I would see this as a successful still life, although I have no experience at the subject, but this speakes to me in lighting, color contrast and placement of the main subject matter. I like the isolation of the plant/vase, however I think to isolate it further from the background would only serve to make this composition stronger. Perhaps placing the vase on a hanging shelf wrapped in the same material as the background??? Just an idea...
