Dear Carmen (Busko) and Paul(Wilde), first of all I want to thank you for your positive comments and for your interest in my images. Please forgive me if I reply to you ?all in one? but you both asked me the same question about ?THE PRESENT ABSENCE?(Rimini, Italy 2002).As far as I understood , your question is ? would it have been a better image in B&W ,would not it? My answer is on two levels : a) I love grate B&W images ( Kertesz, Lartigue, Adams, Stieglitz ...) but I prefer color pictures (my favourite author is Ernst Haas)and I am much better at taking color snaps than B&W ones b) The second level is more complicate ,somewhat psychological. I will give you an example: in 1991 my father died. It was a wonderful sunny summer day. People were filling their luggage , planning departures, going to travel agencies to buy tickets to everywhere. Other people were at the public garden laughing ,eating , enjoying life ........Even in front of death life goes on , keeps on in magic and sometimes irritating colors. Since then, I am no longer able to take B&W pics. Life is in colors ,each atmosphere- from the happiest to the most depressing- is in colors , I feel B&W Just as a mere trick of my mind and I do not like to be cheated by my own mind. Andrea P.S. Paul , the image of yours I just rated is wonderful although I no longer take B&W pics I am still able to love excellent B&W pics by other authors!
