This is my 01-Nov photo for my One Photo A Day project (www.pbase.com/thewizardrod)
I decided what was most interesting about the slinky's rings was how they crossed and contrasted.
I repositioned slinky and focused close (Nikon Coolpix 4500 can focus at 1 inch away) and filled the frame with just the abstract pattern. I then set the camera to apeture mode for maximum depth of field (but given the extreme close distance of the shot, the background still blurred, but nicely, I think).
Nikon Coolpix 4500 Focal Length: 30.4mm Distance: approx. 1.5 inch Shutter: 1/4 sec Aperture: f/10 White balance: Daylight at -1 Light: side/back light from window Tripod used
Any advice to improve such shots are welcome. -- Rodney :)
It is wonderfully executed shot (and thanks for the details). My only suggestion if you wanted to play with this more would be to consider what you put in the background behind the slinky to enhance the presentation.
