Two brothers chatting and having fun. Talking about the time they spent away from each other, one was at a camp for basketball and the other was at a christian camp. They are now getting ready to go to Williamsburg Va. for their family vacation. This is their first time back togethr after being away from each other for a week.
No one has yet commented on this, so here's my twopence worth...
I like the "connection" between the two subjects, the way they are looking at each other. I think this shot has great potential. There are a lot of details that give clues to the story behind the photo. The different t-shirts, for a start.
I have a suspicion that if the boys' hands were in the shot it would make for a massive improvement --- since they are not looking at the camera. This could be either by using the camera in portrait position (perhaps stepping back a bit or using a wider angle lens) or by waiting for some gesticulation.
Also, I find my eyes quite distracted by some of the items in the periphery of the shot: tre frame of the car, the contents of the boot, the dashboard in the background (those two dials look like a pair of eyes, and they are right in the line of sight between the two boys --- if they weren't there, it would be easier to just wander from one face to the other, connecting more with the models).
Here's what I would try: wider angle lens, portrait mode, get in closer and try to connect more with the subjects.
Of course, it is all too easy to say that now: I'm not sure if you knew the models or was that intimate with them.
