Thanks for the input Ben (and everyone else). I also have only been at this for a few months but I love it! I wondered if I had zoomed in too much but felt like it turned out "not too bad". I'll remember about leaving more space around the face next time.

i really like the idea you have with the composure of this photo. it is something different, a new way of approaching people shots. however, it might have improved this photo alot if it were not zoomed in as much, to get some more emtpy space on the left side, drawing one's eye more into the photo. like i said though, you deffinently have something special with your point of view. i have the opposite problem, i love people photography, but have not had much success with nature or animals. if you want to see some of my work, check out my portfolio. i am not saying this as a spam thing to get my ratings up, merely if you want to some other people shots and if you could give me some pointers with my nature and animal shots. thanx ben
