They do have eyes, they are just difficult to highlight. On a flight photo this is difficult especially in light like it looks like you had that day. With a standing or slow moving bird a little fill flash with a flash extender can put just enough light into the subjects eye. BTW great Eider flight shot.

Very nice panning. It seems just a little blurry, but that could be the scan, from what I have learned about scanning and all that jazz. NIce color as well.
