Like your crop better then mine - you've got atmosphere as well as great colour now. Cool.........

Colors are very nice and the natural frame of the tree is very good. I think your version with the rail removed and almost-square format is better.

Okay, this is with part of the rail removed and recropped. More along the lines of what you were thinking? (And thanks for the input! I like the color in this shot and want it to work.)

Clara, Hi - Don't think it's the colour of the snow, think it might be the snow itself. Try re-composing. I think this may have worked better landscape rather then portrait and removing the intrusive barrier and the snow completely. Use the tree as a frame along the top and top left corner and you will avoid the floating tree concern. Cropping the top slightly too will focus on the colours reflected in the ice with no distractions from sky or foreground. Nice shot, good use of colour though.

I can see your point on the railing. I'm a bit worried about eliminating the snow however. I don't want the tree floating in water effect. Is it the color of the snow or the snow itself?

Clara, I like the subject, the way the colors are reflected in the ice edge. The foreground tends to be intrusive, particularly the railing and snow beneath and the focus appears to be concentrated on the foreground as well.
