G'day Doyle, thank you very much for your comment and thoughts and being upfront. It is really good to hear people's first thoughts.
Interesting that you have commented about the 'redness'. In fact, this sandy earth colouration is pretty typical in NW Australia, and it really glows in the late afternoon, which may make it look "oversaturated". I love this red, it is stunning, yet hard to believe until you see it with your own eyes. It is amazing.
Thanks again for your insightful comments, Alice.

Hi Gary, thank you very much for your comment and thoughts.
Yes Gary, this emu was in a wildlife park of sorts, so pretty habituated to humans, so it let me get reasonably close, though it was difficult to take photos as it kept walking around! See my reply to Annemette to show more cropped version, thanks for your comments relating to this also.
Cheers, Alice.

Annemette, thank you very much for your comment and thoughts.
I have played a bit more with the cropping and have attached a modified version, wonder if this version works better Annemette? I agree with Gary, it does add extra mystery - clue to working out whether it is an ostrich or an emu by looking at only the feet is by counting the toes! (Emu - 3, and Ostrich - 2).
Thanks again, Alice.

Imaginative use of the red earth and pin sharp too. This wasn't an emu encountered in the bush was it? They've never let me get that close! I wouldn't cool it down, I do like the (over)saturation. What I would do is crop out the feathers and the leaf. I find them both distracting and without them, there's a bit more mystery to the shot. Regards, Gary

I love it, too:-) Great perspective and tones and interesting with the patterns in the red dirt. I would probably have left out the feathers on top, but I like it very much anyway! Best wishes, Annemette

Alice: First thoughts are that it's not an abstract. It's emu feet. Never-the-less, it's an interesting composition. Colors are warm and all the lines seem to draw the viewer into the photo. If I had to suggest how to improve it . . . I would say to check out using a cooling filter . . . to tone down the red coloring a tad . . . but that's if I had too, and I don't, so I won't.
Regards- Doyle I
