Nothing beats the real thing but did you know that you can simulate the IR effect to any RGB image in Photoshop using Layer - New Adjustment Layer - Channel Mixer (click monochrome box). Start by sliding the red channel then adjust the geen and blue (recommended starting point is red: -30, green: +200, blue: -70 for a total of 100).

You should also add DIFFUSE GLOW, which is found under Filter - distort. This will give the image those trademark "dreamy" halos of light around highlights. You may also want to add NOISE, also from the FILTER menu, to simulate film grain.

If you are really Photoshop-savvy you can set this up as an Action. This simulated effect may not be as dramatic in areas like the sky and in skin tones but it works well on trees, grass, any foliage. Keep in mind that you want any water to appear as black.

Thanks for the comments. I really wish I knew how to "solve" the blurry effect that I?ve encountered when using an IR filter. I?ve tried making adjustments in aperture and shutter speeds but I think it has more to do with the IR light being reflected off the object and into the camera lens. ...but I could be wrong. Another possibility is that my camera may not be as IR friendly as other digital cameras are known to be.

Since this is only my second outing with an IR filter, I?m hoping someone who has more time behind the shutter can enlighten/educate me. Beverly Gustafson?s work [http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=25972] in IR photography is one of MANY such "mentors" out there...

Wow! The clouds in this photograph are very nice! I love the reflections in the water, the sepia, everything! The two poles or structures in the center and very interesting. The only thing that was a little odd is the movement or blurryness in the bottom right. Everything else is beautiful!
