I have to say.. the shadows as suggested by this photo ... as coming from the candle, are perfectly cast. Very well composed, great use of light and shadow, and perfect rendition of the candle flame. This photo embodies focus, suggestion, varied lighting, and a greater depth than the subject itself via the shadow.

Beautiful, well positioned, and very akin to the fairy tale world as suggested by TL .... but with such strong light, where are the shadows? No matter, I love the look of this one. It could be a painting, and probably should be.

Yes the PS work on this photo was a matter of three of four clicks and a slide of the color balance.... easier than making a LOCAL phone call........ which required at least seven button pushes......

but the "victim" stance of the photo you are referencing still shouts 'victim' and I could not care less whether it is a male/female... male/male/ female/female or newt/newt.... I have no biases... but I DO have opinions cincerning victimized humans....and THAT photo indicates an UNwilling participant. REDO the photo... make it participatory, and I will still think the lighting and composition are well done.... but will probably have more respect for the photographer... as well as the "dominant" figure.

I've read the comment below. Without the sky, one cannot comprehend the proportion of the falls. It is a truely beaustifu spot... I MUST add it to my list of places required to visit. I appreciate the fact that this beautiful photo has NO PS work. It is beautiful in it's own right, and does not need "corrections" to make it any more perfect. I am sorry I do not speak your language, and cannot post a reply appropriatley. But be assurred, your photograph overcomes ANY language differences, as beauty is beauty..... no matter what language describes it.

The texture in the sand goes easily unnoticed, but is perfect. The fuzziness of the grasses at the tops of the seed heads reiterates the disappearing act brought on by the fog. One would have to completely blind and with no appreciation of atmospheric conditions to not apprecite this photograph for it'e exquisitely simple beauty.

When I was a child of five, I received a postcard from an Uncle with a photo of this place... it inspired me to try to draw it, then to paint it........perhaps one day I too will have an opportnity to photograph it..... it continues to have a hold on me even today.

A slight correction in brightness would protect the roofline form fading into the skyline.

Beautiful in it's subtle shades of gray, even more strongly composed, and overall I cannot say enough positive things. Well done, very well done.

The beauty here is in the face, the detail, the veins on the emaciated hands. Music is the world's common denominator, and this is an exquisite example of music in real life. I would rather have seen only one instrument, but two of them make him a rich musician, as well as serious about his musical skill. I love the detail in the matt, but may have cropped... or "fixed" with PS... the big square light area on the left . This is one of the better photos I have seen, and I appreciate the opportunity to view it.
The "backlight' on his shoulder is perfection.

While I think this is beautiful, very beautiful, I'd like to know what PS techniques were used... on what layers... and how much time was involved. No matter the PS work, it does not take away from the EFFECT of the rendition. As I said, quite beautiful, with the coloring and light effects carrying the image, not the composition, or subject matter. Well rendered!!!!!!!!!

Very well captured. Excellent B&W work, perfect exposure. I think I would lighten the black shadow across the bottom a little (not much) , just make it less noticeable so as to allow freedomn to the eye ......to concentrate on the wonderful attributes of the cab and driver.

Being familiar with your portfolio,I think this is not your best work.... but it is very very good. The photo is a bit too light/bright to set a mood as a great portion of your work does. The composition is perfect, no doubt.

Deciduous trees may remove their bright leaves once winter arrives, but the forest is never colorless..... it just becomes more subtle.... like a beautiful woman with no makeup.

Good work.

How good it is ! ....When the sky performs for us, and we are lucky enough to have someone capture it for all of us. Beautiful, "painterly" composition, and very good silloueter work.

Very well done. It is quite beautiful, and remarkable for the length of time. There is no way I could have been still that long... I would have sneezed, scratched my nose, or started giggling at my own thoughts and ruined the pose. Very well done indeed.

Self portraits are difficult. Because the line is where the line is... I assume you wanted it to be there, so it does not bother me in the least. It does in fact add a "modern art" quality that is pleasing. The colors are perfect, the detail in your eyes is a rare accomplishment... (I can see the pigments of the iris! WOW!)
If you do this again.... I would remove the watch. It breaks up a very nice curvature of the arm.

So welcome to usefilm, this is a very well executed photograph. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

The filter is a nice touch.... but your photograph is beautiful with or withour it. The shadows add depth, and the focus is befitting this most delicateof flowers. A photo worthy of a botanical primer. Beautifully done, pleasing to see and a delight to the eye.

White on white with subtlies of black and brown..... an artist culod not have depicted this better if they had imagined it .... to perfection.... in their own mind. The detail is wonderful, and the translucent qualities of the seeds are captured precisely. This is very good work!!!!!!!

Wonderful. At first glance at the thumbnail, I thought it was an abstract,,,, so symetrical, so perfect is the reflection... then I looked and was astounded and very appreciative of the focal length, the detail, the light... and the color! This is truely an excellent photograph. Is there any PS work involved?

Again you have done an exceptional job of drawing.. not just a second look, but a 22nd look... in fact a studious apraisal. This is quite beautiful, as well as thought provoking. Another excellent example of "look closely.. all is not what you think you see."

Composition-lighting-originality- emotional appeal-overall..... Well, there is one measurable criteria lacking at usefilm... TECHNICAL QUALITY. Quality of exposure, of sharpness, of technical perfection. There is no measure of the photographers tecnical ability. Too bad, because this photo is a perfect example of WHY that HALF of a photographers skill needs to be measured.

This photo shows every hair on the head as well as in the moustache, every fiber in the shirt, all the texture in the background, stitches in the hat, shine on the nose..... journalistically. (And I am looking at it from a laptop.) THIS is a printable photo, with quality excellent enough to allow for the deterioration once screened for newsprint. even dot matrix would do this justice.

An excellent example of a photographers technical expertise, as well as an intimate capture of a real life person.

Clear water droplettes on white petals is SO difficult. COngratulations on a fine job of capturing that. Seting for the white, instead of the green may differientiate the water a bit more, so you can try that the next time it rains in your garden.... meantime, this capture is beautifly and exceptionaly executed.

This begs for further, closer examination. Regardless that it has no premise in real life... (who goes into the sea with buckets.. in modern dresses?) anyway no matter... this is a compelling photograph, and one which deserves accolades. VERY well done, and much admired.

SOOOO hard to set ourselves in front of a camera..... act like we like it.....and present some rendition of a pleasant expression while we wait for the damn thing to click.... I know the feeling.

You have done quite well with this. B&W works well with the paint that you have accented. The bare feet are an excellent touch, making you more human and accessible... overall very well done.

First, you were able to slip up on the heron... Second, you made it the ENTIRE focus of your photo.... Third, the trees really ARE Cypress..... Fourth, you have distance represented by fading reflections on the water.... Fifth, there is a tonality which is more than pleasing as well as unusual, the green tones.... Sixth, the fog adds a mystery that would otherwise detract from the heron... O coulod go on, but to suffice it to say I think this is marvelous. Being from south Arkansas... I definately recognize the habitat, but unfortunately for me... have never been able to capture it so effectively.

I have already commented and given this photo excellent marks.... BUt I am pleased to see that it is up for the critique. Is excellent that such a photo will have additional exposure. EEEK! no pun intended... but I am willig to accept credit for it!
Whatever. I am still admiring this capture.

An interesting treatment. I give you high marks for originality, but fear you may have done the model a disservice with the hard lines. It is a very artsy/craftsy treatment.

I cannot add anything new to what has been said, just agree that it is a wonderful shot, and while the subject is stoic, there is a great deal of emotional impact. I like the fact that there is no "busy" background to detract from the impact of the photograph. You did exceptionally well with this one!!!!!!!

As usual, your work is "glowing" and exhibits such fine detail as to give us a view of worlds we have rarely seen! Pollen... the leathery texture of the lily petals...the luminosity of the stamens.... simply beautiful.

Drama in everyday events..... created by the "magic hour" of light in the early morning... and a talented eye that realized it was magic indeed, and captured it for all to enjoy. Ambient light in all it's faceted glory is one of the most elusive components of film. You not only captured it caressing the trees, but illuminating the runner as well. This photograph is wonderful.... and a pleasure.

Rarely does the subject go into motion with the background. This does. Rarely does a stark detail enhance the dreamlike qualities of a photograph. This does. Rarely does a dark foreground add interest and depth. This does.

You have only been working with photography since march????? After you gain a little experience in photography, who can tell where your talented eye will take you!!!!!!!

Rendered so perfectly in black and white... making the image almost a winter scene, so pure in rendition as to be envied. I really have no words to express my admiration for this photograph. I have looked at it for ten minutes.... and will look some more. It is a visual delight.
