I love your wildlife shots Darlene. You really put that awesome lens to great use. The DOF in this one is great. He looks like he's laying down. I hope he wasn't injured. Please tell me you saw him move around some. Wonderful image with lovely colours and detail.

Thank you also for your support, encouragement and comments to my images.

Cheers - Ann :)

Darlene, you have great patience to capture this kind of moment.

Someone said that they thought the bird was waiting to attack. I don't think that is accurate. Down on the ground, an owl is vulnerable, so eyes are wary to avoid predators. As far as I know, I don't think owls ever hunt from the ground, except maybe to look for insects. Feather maintenance seems to be the objective here.

Darlene,
This has got to be a pretty rare capture. I had no idea these guys went anywhere near the water.
One thing this photo confirms for me is that the eyes on my Barred Owls are correct to be all black. I thought I might have screwed my images up, but I guess that's just the way they are.
Andre

A superb photo of this wonderful avian predator, Darlene. You've caught the vigilent expression in the black eyes, to perfection. I especially like the blurred focus, emphasizing the effect of the animal hiding, partially submerged, ready to pounce upon an unsuspecting rodent!

Another very fine owl pic, Darlene.

Regards
Colin
