Hmmm... The gear this soldier has is circa 1966. Looks like another scam to me.

Hi, Guilherme.
This was primarily done using with Thresholds in Photoshop, where all greys are shifted to either pure black or pure white. I then brushed the background elements out with a white paintbrush, leaving just the statue of the soldier.

What looks like tears/mud across his face is actually bird droppings. :)
When I get home, I'll upload the original photo for reference. Thanks for dropping by and taking an interest in my image!

My son is a paratrooper my father-inlaw was in prison camps for 4 years and 2 of my friends are Vietnam veterans so things like this touch my heart, the high contrast is good for this image, very well done..Tracey

fine image Paul of what must be an extraordinary sculpture ? your treatment dramatically and so effectively fleshes out what the other artist conveyed.

A very powerful image, indeed, Paul. It is a pity you have not given more information about the circumstances of shooting.

A strong image for sure but I'm afraid it's all being repeated once again (and this won't be the last time). Hope there's room next to this one for an Iraqi war / occupation statue in about 10 to 15 years from now.

Nice shot, the high contrast gives it a very dramatic look. Love my 20D as well, haven't shot any Velvia in 4months, but don't want give up film yet but digital makes it tough to do both.
