George,
although the photo may imply otherwise, I find your experience to be the norm and the irony of the title to this shot is that these people choose this status in "The Land of Milk and Honey" I thank you for your honest and thoughtful commentary.

I think the image is the editorial, and a strong one as well. I like the way you cropped the head, as if to maintain a level of anonymity. Perhaps this was to allow the subject to keep a measure of dignity. The use of B&W also adds to the strength of the image. But it is all one-sided. I see these people all the time. More often than not I give them a little cash. I also give them my business card and tell them I will hire them if they will only come to my shop. Only one ever did. That was four years ago and he is still with us. Mostly they wallow in a misery of their own making and do not desire to change it.
