I think I'm more pleased with the original really - just seems a little more "real" than the filtered one.
I got so many of this sunset, most wilol never see the light of day, kinda sad really. Surprised Steve didn't put more up.
I like your work on it - seem to have managed to get more umph into the colours somehow. Maybe the sharpening brought out the colour alongwith the detail? The rays definitely benefitted from the sharper edges. Come to think of it, they were pretty darn sharp on the night!
Cheers
Ade

Well Ade what a puzzle - I am certainly bot a purist but I like the original better - because I think you have captured the rays and the colours so well. Not easy to work on the smaller image, but I had a go at my own version using filters and sharpening a bit rather than a blurrier look. Can't see much difference - but see if you can see any. One of the filters [don't know where we got them from] we have you can darken/lighten centre which is sometimes quite useful. If I babble on much more I shall forget to attach the image LOL Margaret

Stupendous Ade but I gotta say I vote for Amazing Rays cos it seem a little sharper. That's my humble opinion but at the end of the day it's what strikes YOU best that counts. They're oth fabulous images that I'd be proud to have in my portfolio. Den

I'm not a purist - I'm all for fiddling with my photos - but I have to say I prefer 'Amazing Rays' - because the rays coming out across the clouds are better defined - though of course the colours in 'Pure Gold' are pure gold...!

Cracker Ade.... I think my preference is the first (Midnight Gold) one... the colours are awesome and the softness entirely appropriate for the sunset scene....
This is possibly my favourite shot of yours!
