The ROXY Theatre, in Bingara, NSW, Australia, was built as a cinema in 1936, by three Greek immigrants. They put a lot of money into making it a stylish art deco theatre, only to go into bankrupcy, within two years. It closed as a cinema in 1958 and sat idle for 40 years before being purchased by the Bingara Shire Council and restored. In its new lease of life it is a very busy place with cinema, concerts and live theatre regularly held in its 400 capacity auditorium as well as Conferences and Meetings. In 2006 it celebrates 70 years, and a number of exciting festivities are being planned.
