Ned, I usually autofocus on the eye then recompose. I use the center point but I really want to start trying other things. Thanks so much for your comments, I really enjoy hearing from everyone!

wonderful details! do you compose then focus manually or autofocus on the eye then recompose? or probably you make use of the multifocus points in your camera!
because i don't usaully use a tripod, i ALWAYS use th centre autofocus point, focus on the eye then recompose. however, i quess that using a tripod needs another skill to get the focus right. i really want to use the tripod for every single shot but i find it troublesome!
