Actually, (I think I'm starting to understand what DOF is...but I'm not sure) this picture was a fluke. I didn't know it would come out like this until I put it on the computer. But then I started taking other pictures, and I really like how it focuses well in one area and the rest is blurry. And I'm doing that effect on purpose, if that's what you're talking about.

Dear Ashley, Very good shot. I hope you're doing that shallow DOF on purpose. BTW, I know that dog look. Karl is looking at your new camera and going, "what does she need that new plastic thing for? I could get about 100 steaks, bones and all with the cash she spent on that" Life's not fair....... (my dogs have that look too)......

Excellent - just a tad lower angle and you would have completely isolated his head.
