About Converted to b&w and toned in PSP. I thought about cropping right down to the top of the head (or slightly below) but decided not to (see below). Thoughts, anyone?

Muito chick o charme deste garotinho.
Parabens pela excelente fotografia. O preto e branco, deu total destaque.

Thanks, Dave - it's one of my favourite shots of him. Of course the irony is that he is the reason I got into photography in the first place, and he won't let me take his picture anymore without goofing off and wrecking the shot. LOL... I guess he's just tired of the camera is all. :-]

I like the cropping you chose here, and the slightly off-center placement works well too. Just wish I could see it all on the screen at once, as the file has a few too many pixels on the long (vertical) side to see with Windows html viewer. Really good focus, few distracting elements. I like the 'little man' viewpoint, showing personality beyond the typical pediatric snap.

Hi, Anthony - thanks very much. I cropped off center like that on the grounds that the subject should be looking into (rather than out of) the frame. But looking at your tight crop it seems to me that it works to strengthen the suggestion that he is looking AT something out-of-frame.

Thanks very much for the suggestion, and for looking.

Cheers,

Jon

hey jon!..this has to be one of my favorite pics from your portfolio. awesome capture! the composition is great and i love that you decided to put this into a sepia styled color..i love this color and the lighting. perfection. i do have to agree with you on the cropping though. i think that since the right side of the photo has his arm so close to the edge, that the other side needs to be balanced, unless of course this was intentional. :) i just think the off balance takes something away from this picture, so i decided to do a cropped versio, cropping some from the left and a little off the top. is this what you kinda wanted?? if not, great photo anyways!

Jon: I like the pic, the model, the tones and the uncropped pic. it's a good capture.
Thanks for your comment in my first pic(the slug).
