Thanks, Neil. I did rather goof with the focus on this one, partly because of the wide aperture I had to use in order to make the most of the light. Still as you say - the texture makes up for it somewhat. Thank you very much for your kind comments.
The model chose the look himself (maybe for the sake anonymity, rather than as a deliberate Unabomber look... I'll have to ask him).
Regarding digital - one day I might have enough extra money to buy a digital as good as the manual focus SLR I'm using now! I admit to preferring prints over screenshots as well, although of course one can get digital images printed easily enough.
Cheers from Saskatchewan,
Jon

Hi Jon, thanks for visiting my work and commenting, i'm pleased to be able to reciprocate. Apart from the obvious implications to the UNA bomber, i think you have a great portrait here. It looks very nice with the PSP treatment. Maybe a little sharper would help, but with the great texture it doesn't worry me the way it is. One comment to your BIO and on one of your last photos about the disadvantage of digital :) i think you are being a little hard on the digital when the problem was the autofocus :) I too had similar thoughts about the costs of film etc as i was shooting loads. I changed to a D70 and rediscovered my enjoyment. I know this will probably make the purists thow up their arms in anger, but i'm happy. Try and take the photo of your child in the bath tub again with a good digital SLR and you'll be hard pushed to see a difference.
Take care, have a nice weekend and best wishes from Switzerland,
Neil

Hi Jon,
I like the balance of this portrait. It is cropped just right. The interesting framing also compliments this shot.

I completely forgot about the self-actualized haute cuisine aspect! It was good of Fred to send you to remind me of this. Mysterious are the Ways of Fred.

Is this not the same Fred Deity who is also the God of Cooking and Self-Actualization?

Hi, Pat - Thank you very much. His Radiant Fredness is a small, slightly rotund minor deity specializing in home renovations and floor covering installation. The Church of Fred is dedicated to spreading his word and accepting donations from unsuspecting passersby. Thanks be to Fred.
Cheers,
Jon

Hi, Peri - thank you for your kind comments. The frame is just a script that Paint Shop Pro runs. I can't claim any creative input on it other than deciding that it worked well with the portrait.
Cheers,
Jon
