The D70 camera can do alot when setup correctly. You might go to this link and try this setup. there is a wealth of information out there. http://www.planetneil.com/nikon/d70-csm.html

As for your capture I would have removed the chair and crop the pic to eliminate the telephone pole. This is my opinion you are the composer.
