Marcus: They don't like to fly very much but would rather perch. Very nice!

I like all of your images of various birds, but this is somehow outstanding. Excellent job you have done here with flahs and PS! Lovely colours and texture os the water is magnificient. This bird prooves that the gray is a beautiful colour too.
Thanks for your comment. Best regards.

Hehe Marcus they can't all be flying! I've never seen one of these before, thank you for sharing. My European bird book suggests these are only found in Southern Europe, I can't blame them for not liking British weather!

Yes Andree the fill flash made the shot on a drab day. The D70 has a nice I-TTL built in flash, very nice system they use, the equal seperate flash would be probably the nikon sb-600 its really nice and can reach a great distance....
Thanks again...

Thanks Marcus. Is 30 yards is 90 feet? Huge distance. Do you think that the flash made a difference in the exposure? I am not familiar with canon 420EX////. It must be a super flash. I wonder what the equivalent is with NIKON... Anyway, you are very good at capturing birds. I really love your images. Regards, Andree

Just takin' a little break at the photo shoot . . . !

This is a beautifully detailed portrait, sharpened just right--and with the 70-200mm lens, no less. Did you apply any blur to that great blue water?

Regards,
--George

Excellent capture with great lighting (very smart use of the fill flash too), color and tones contrasts. I like the stones rising from the water that give the idea of where the bird is placed.
Bravo, Marcus!
