It may be sort of posed but most of life is. I think that the composition is excellent. The stairs work well with the figure and the lighting is well done. Forget about whether or not it looks posed and just keep working on a direction for what you are doing.

Actually Audra, I just had a thought. How about shooting the scene without anyone there? Maybe just an object on the stairs to represent the lonliness and despair felt. I don't mean to mess with your idea, but .......

Love the composition and especially the way you have the light on the stairs. Not sure about the figure though ........ the position is perfect, I just don't think the facial expression quite works for me. Otherwise a superb, moody B+W.
