This is a collage of the statue that stands across the street where the Alfred P. Murrah building once stood. There is a granite wall in front of the statue with 168 crevices for candles representing those that lost their lives during the bombing. It symbolizes the meaning that Jesus turns his back to evil and weeps for those involved. There is a wall that describes it but I don't have a pic of it. I am hoping someone will have it and post it along with this so everyone will know what it means.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. And who so ever believeth in him shall not parish but have ever lasting life."
I found that scripture appropriate for this. Seeing this up close brings a lot of emotions to those around it. The quietness and haunting peacefulness at this site is unbelievable. You just don't know what an impact it is going to have until you are there. I have cryed many tears during this series and I am glad I did it. It is like my contribution to those gone before us. Just something I needed to do. I visited with Stephen Jones this past summer, Timothy McVeighs lawyer. And he said that this was not a case he chose he was chosen for it. He said that McVeigh showed no signs of remorse in anyway. What he had done was right. In his mind. So as I leave this tonight, I will say this; may that man rot in hell for what he did on that day and may God forgive me for my harshness when my time comes.
Thank you Melisa. I have never wished bad on anyone and not that I neccessarily do him but I bet I'm not the only one that ever thought that. Thank you on the comment.
Thank you again Ron for your input on this. The print is great! Thank you for adding it. A friend of mine has a shot of the Jesus statue and I am hoping he will add it also.
Rona you captured the essence of this statue of Jesus and the remarks above are most appropiate for this horrrible tragedy. In Sept of 1995 I did a print titled "Healing America" hoping for a change in our Nation and a healing around the world. The print is enclosed below. Your picture and my print kind of says it all... God Bless our Nation, and may we be a witness to all the world... Ron
