It's a trade-off, the full wing-span in the shot means less detail on the face and then steadying the camera for the longer exposure required for the greater DOF you want gets dicey. We take what we get with shots like these.

Well done, love the colours and the face detail and the detial on the wing coming forward.
This is very similar to one I have in my folio.
Great use of the limited dof.
One thing that I have often struggled with is the tight crop I did on the dragonfly, cutting the wings off short. But I see you have done the same and so I feel better about my choice.
