About This image was taken during our sail from islands to Istanbul 2 weeks ago. it was a public boat in which various mobile sellers try their chances to survive. This is the shot of two simit (traditional Turkish food, ring shaped bread with sesame seeds on) sellers after a long days sale. The interesting part is there is a contradiction of accelerated modernization where one of them is counting the changes and the other is reading the messages in his mobile phone. (mobile phone is quite expensive for a simit seller!) ?

it often happens dear Aydin...to have things so uneccessary instead of what really needed... make someone feel he is not left behind... is the "I've got it!!!!" feeling..... or so I think..... nice capture.....best regards Marian

Dear Amy,
I am proud and quite happy to be one of the member of UF. I am also with you regarding the use of improving communicstion tools.. In the view, mobile phone was only an example of the contradiction.. thanks for commenting and your interest..

Aydin, I understand your goal better now. On the other hand - anything that improves communication between people has got to be a good thing... I think USEFILM is one of those things, don't you? Amy

Amy, thank you for commenting.. in this view I wanted to emphasize the struggle of levels in society to present themselves.. nowadays, unfortunately, people are concerned to the outer apperiance of others;hence themselves instead of inner values. I am observing this tragedy everyday with alive examples.. for example, although those sellers do not earn too much, they buy mobile phones instead of their basic needs.. this hurts!

Aydin, I especially like the smiles in this shot. The blur adds a certain mystery to it as well. Good stuff! Amy
