Yes,Markus explained it well. Vignetting is when you darken the outter areas in an image. The dress could be toned down (darkened) a bit to keep it in the image but lessen it's brightness. It is still very lovely as it is mind you.

I think what she means is that with the downward perspective, the white dress is the closest thing to the viewer, so that is what catches your eye first, thus taking away from your beautiful subject, vignette in her use is to darken the overwhelming bright area, so that the viewers eyes will see the subject first, she is suggesting that you darken her dress a bit, which is easy or plain crop it out, which i would not do as I am not as bothered by objects that distract some people. I find this a very pretty portrait, with nice soft tones, beautiful work...

Thanks Louise. What do you mean (or how do you) "vignetted" ? I would like to keep the dress in as I don't want the crop to be too tight.

Very very nice. Love the downward pose. I think it would be improved if you either vignetted, thus darkening her white dress, or cropped it out. My eye keeps going to it as it is so bright. Love the darkness and softness of this one.
