Very nice focus on the bridge. Have you thought about trying this in sepia? It could add warmth and bring out the wood. Very good overall. :)

Oops, I meant to say I added a small black BORDER, not layer.

Oh, good! You like it! I actually use Paint Shop Pro, not Photo Shop. What I did was "clarify" it (click of a button), sharpened it, then added a little contrast. After that I duplicated the background layer twice made the top layer a "burn" layer and the middle layer a "dodge" layer and adjusted the opacity of those two layers until it looked the way I wanted it. I merged the layers and added a small black layer... and that's it! It sounds more complicated than it actually is ;o)

Yours is actually perfect! What tools did you use in PS because your eye caught what I was trying to convey. The detail is great! Thanks.

I really like the perspective and angle you used, the DOF is nice too and the B&W as well. I agree that a little more contrast would be nice, maybe even a little dodging and burning for detail.

What do you think of this? You can take it or leave it, just my 2 cents....

That's a very excellent rendition of it. In my mind, that's the beauty of photography...it can mean different things to different people. With your interpretation, I would prefer the bridge of the cello to be a little darker, but the body is perfect. Thanks a lot for your help!

I will be experimenting with it a little more. I guess when I convert pictures to b&w, the way that I mix the tones reflects my mood. At the time, I had finished practicing Tchaikovsky's 4th, so I really wanted the more introspective approach to the different qualities of the woodgrain of the cello. This led me to keep the contrast and the brightness down. Check back later and you might see a completely different picture. Thanks a lot for the comment!

Beatiful shot, I love the framing. Its great that we can see the grain of the wood too.
If anything, i would say that it may need a bit more contrast, and maybe lightened a bit. Have you tried adding some toning to it? That would really make it pop out.
Really good work, i love it.(I too LOVE the sound of the cello, so i have special apprecation for this..)
Congrats
Corrie
