I have the same problem with my Sony Optical 3x lens, so I avoid extreme wide angle in architectural pictures. I can also correct the wrong pictures with Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9.0, using
Adjust/Photo Fix/Barrel Distortion Correction
or
Adjust/Photo Fix/Fisheye Distortion Correction

I'm seeing a curve at horizontal lines. Your camera lens are Sony Optical lens or Tessar lens?
