Thanks Adrian, no soft focus filter, just softened a bit in Photoshop. The background is actually just a bed sheet. This was really just a test shoot to try new lighting I bought. The lighting was a Photek 60 inch umbrella with a diffuser and the fillin was a shoot through white umbrella.

Actually everything's straight, he's tilted, I decided not to do a straight up shot, besides he hates posing (my son) and I took what I can get.

Nice and unpredictable, a little tilted, but he looks like he is having fun. Nice picture overall, despite the choice of muted colors.

This is a great portrait. Great shadows on his face. Did you use soft focus filter? What about the background, and lighting?
