Ryan, I copied to a new layer, set blend mode to multiply, then used a layer mask to lighten her but left the gloves and the background dark.

Pandora, It is not a single effect, it was done with several adjustment layers.

though i really like her expression a lot and the posing, i find the golden details a bit destracting as they catch my attention more than her face... and she has a great expression indeed... other than that, i believe it is a great pic in your own style my friend.... well done... emy

Even though I'm not a huge fan of gold, I like this very much Jeff. Did you enhance the gold at all? It's so brilliant, almost poppnig off the screen at me.

Recently I had a chance to see an "in-the-flesh" Mapplethorpe print, one of the "black man bodybuilder" series. (I can't remember the title -- the series is famous though.) It was magnificent. A huge black and white print of the male figure, muscles glistening obsidian, from the waist up. But the crowning glory was what Mapplethorpe had done to the background, hand-coloured it gold with a meticulous hand: not one drop had impinged upon the figure. I think this kind of treatment would elevate this picture of yours too. Easily done in Photoshop I guess. Rgds, Svend

Carol, You mean more like this? This technique requires the right balance of several adjustment layers so it can be difficult to do - still working out the technique. I already know that skin type is important - the model must have smooth skin tones. I tried this technique on some Melissa photo but her skin comes out too blotchy because of her translucent skin. This is still a work in progress. Carol, I always listen to and appreciate your suggestions, thank you. Love you, Jeff

Jeff, I am not sure about the lack of contrast with her and the background in this..I love the idea but would like to see it on a darker background or a stark white one...
Just an suggestion.. I love the gold though!
ps..who cares about a little hair!

I don't mind the effect on the upper body and face, but it almost makes her seem a bit hairy in spots where she shouldn't be. I think maybe cropping just above the belly button perhaps. I do actually like the gold left on the gloves.
