Hi Verena,
ja, der Himmel war wirklich irre. more to come =)
leider war das nur am ersten tag so, wo wir nur für ein paar stündchen zum bummeln reingefahren sind. mist =)
der schiefe turm von pisa war wirklich die idee zum bild, und daher auch der titel. gut gesehen =)
LG, Thilo

Dear Maria,
okay, slowly but surely we understand each other ;-)
My rework on the darker part of the tower is for sure "artificial". But I didn't feel comfortable with the underexposed tower so I go for a modification ;-)
thx for the feedback, thilo

hahahaha Hi Thilo: I'm very vague... I don't understand where was the original for view the sky. I think what it was in another shot hahahaha. My english is very bad too ;-) Ok, the shot: I think what the problem is the light! A shine sky look here make a back-lighting because in a tall tower the flash isn't possible. It is only my opinion. Kisses.

I can see how it would be hard to do more with the light on the tower. A complicated solution would be to take two shots - this one and one with two or even three stops more exposure and then get out your photoshop scissors and glue.

Dear Antonio,
thanks for checking the picture again. you're definitely right about the loss in detail. I traded the detail in the tower against the detail in the sky ;-) When I made this shot I had in mind what I will do in PS. thanks again, thilo

Thilo, as I see the original shot I can recognize your ability to re-creates right exposure. It is in the nature of this process however what I told you in the first message about the lost of texture in the dark shadows, as I figured out before.

Dear Hugo,
thanks for the lengthy and elaborate comment. I was a bit reluctant regarding the diagonal beginning in the lower left... but then decided to present the tower in this way. Glad you like the outcome.

first a note on the italian subject by foreing people as seen by an italian; it is an extremely interesting view for me in that it explains how tourists see my country! :) for this shot I suppose some work in PS ruined a bit the sharpness of the Campanile di San Marco in Venice, texture of the wall brown surface seems to be a bit lost in this process

Hi Thilo, a very intriguig shot.
Intersting to see how the tower and the skyscape work together. Not sure what creates it, but it looks a bit as if the skyscape with the small tuffs of cloud seem to diminuish the perspective in the tower. This could very well be emphasised by the little contrast due to the lack of a single (apparent) direction of the light. It creates a very cool effect, though.
The angle at which you took this shot is very well chosen, and I like the simple layout of the image. Well composed! Normally I wouldn't dream of having such a strong line interesect with one of the corners of the image, but lookign at this, I think I'm wrong there; it works pretty well. Nice one!
Thanks for your comment, much appreciated! I'll reply in a few days, to let it sink in a bit...;o)
Cheers,
Hugo
