Thanks Stephen... I am really a walking advertisment for Velvia, as ever since trying the film I have never gone back to negative film. Something about the powerful way it renders colours has me transfixed.
Thanks as well to everyone else who commented... the glow is about half PS and half natural... backlighting does wodners for diffusing light. As for the speck of white... it was a moisture droplet, but it doesn't really show... I will have to clone it out when I make a print. Thanks for taking a look!

I really like the softness you added to this photo. It diffuses and spreads the light, while complementing the soft texture of the petals. The unique angle and composition are a given, and the lighting is sublime. The lines in this shot are great - they're very strong, contrasting the prevailing feeling of softness. I particularly like how the green "petals" (or whatever they are!) look like they're bending back from the force of the aforementioned lines.
There's a bit of a light fleck at the right, just beyond the tip of one of the green petals. I'm sure it's part of the flower, but because it's indistinguishable, I would suggest cloning it out.

Interesting use of the fisheye - I like it. Not sure how much is PS here, but I'm thinking that most of the glow is in the original. The petals are nice, but I particularly like the green stuff.

Wow Kim, you're right, we do seem to be on the same wavelength! This is beautiful - you got some wonderful richness and depth to the colors, and I love the way the green interacts with the peachy yellows of the petals. The whole thing just has a sumptuous velvety glow!

Wow! I really love how you diffused the petals instead of going for the "sharp" look most macro flower shots have...
