I think you are absolutely right. In the last couple of months, I have been considering applying the effect in PS again, but this time with a more moderate amount of blur.
I'll repost when I'm through (it might take a couple of weeks), and let you know so that you can tell me if you think the photo has improved or not.

Although I personally like some more sharpness, I think this is a beauty. I'm a (starting) amateur painter and still having (a lot of) trouble with viewing light and dark. This photo shows how it works!
