I love the color of the water here, I'm ever so partial to blue :) Great work with the filters to get that effect.

Debbie,
I love the colors here, simply beautiful. Also, nice choice of filters they really added to the effect, would be a perfect place to be with someone special.

Debbie, thanks for the comment on my sunrise and sunset picture. The reason for the blueish color on my sunrise is early morning...i think slide film picks up a blueish cast excessively in the morning. Anyway I had left my house at 3am to get to the ocean...but no sunrise big dissapointment. I took a couple shots but mostly waited...and then the pink started coming from above the clouds. That is when I saw the scene.
Tips I have found helpful for sunrise/sunset.
ALWAYS USE SLIDE FILM (Elite Extra Color, Velvia or Kodak 100VS work well) for sunrise/sunset...this is the thing I found made the biggest difference...a couple months ago I made a post about how unhappy I was with my sunset pictures, the reason is I was using print film.
If you want blue & pink go for sunrise (try and get there before 5am) , if you want orange and red go for sunset.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, don't give up, wait some more, pace along the beach for another 2 hours, wait some more...
A risky tip is to slightly underexpose by 1/3-1/2 stop to get more saturation...I heard pros do this but any foreground object will be lost in the shadows most likey. I scanned the blue/pink sunrise at a slightly darker setting to simulate underexposing.
I just thought I'd write what worked for me. I drool over John Shepards images...he knows 10,000 times more then I do about taking sunrise/sunset pictures. His pictures aren't just Pink & Blue...they have excellent composition, balance and just plain work. Maybe he could give you tips.

A great pic, Debbie. Amazing colours, creating a very nice, dream-like mood. Now I expect (and hope) to see a lot of fall pictures from you soon. Very well done. BTW, got your e-mail - will reply later. Trying to catch up on some work, etc.

I used two filters. A mauve graduated cokin with a blue cokin stacked on top. I thought it was pretty awesom, the way the blue water turned out so blue..Not an actual color of the real water, but...well I just thought it turned out pretty. Thanks for your compliments. I live only a 10 min. walk from this lake, and yes, Mary Sue, the falls are just beautiful here.

Amazing colors in this, Debbie. The horizon is tilted a bit, which you can fix with cropping slightly. You will have lots of great sunrise/sets this fall, especially with that Ark/Mo fall color. Lucky you!
