Stephen, as you can see, the legroom is unlimited, but I think you have to provide your own cushion! That's the engine lying on the white box, it's a 50hp Gnome and was mounted to the white frame behind the pilot's seat. The 'plane was designed in 3 parts which could be packed in a container for transport.

Emgy, Cecil Paterson was an experienced designer and aviator and after the tour of South Africa he trained 10 military pilots here in 1913. He returned to England in 1914 and became an instructor in the Royal Flying Corps.

I am amazed that the built-in flash on the Minolta could illuminate this big an object - the wingspan is 10 metres and I was a few metres from it!

(I can tell from your typing that you are feeling better :-) Hugs, Robert

Hi Robert,
I've been looking at this ingenious construction for a while now and I think the details are amazing.
Hard to believe that it was designed to fly, though. Did Cecil C P really really fly the aircraft on a South African tour or did
she/(he?) convince someone else to fly it?
Very interesting subject and a great capture.
I love the colour, I'm pretty sure you can guess why.

Excellent photo Robert although for some reason I much preferred the 1st class return in a Boeing 767 to this .... unless of course the legroom is over 4feet with reclining chair. If that was the case I would consider it ;-)
