It was suggested that I try this in B&W, I did and here it is. You might have to check out my portfolio to see the one in color for comparison (sorry, only one upload per 24 hours) I think, however, I'm being hyper-critical of my work so an outside opinion would be appreciated. Thanks Everyone!
Photo deluxe won't have it, Photoshop elements doesn't have it - which is why I stopped using it. It is only in the full photoshop version. See if photo deluxe has a "curves" tool you can tweak your B&Ws with curves tool. It may not - from what I remember about deluxe is that it is very limited and designed for amateurs. You may consider a better photoediting program - while photoshop is very expensive, I've heard alot of good things about JASC Paintshop Pro - realtively inexpensive (less than $100 US) and has much of the funtionality of photoshop including filters and a lot of pluging designed for photoshop will work in Paintshop Pro.
I'm using Adobe Photo Deluxe (I think it's a business version). I'm going to see if this version has a channel mixer. I've never used this function before. I like your b&w much better. I'll let you know what happens. Sid
How are you converting to B&W. If you are just desaturating, the B&W version will usually be a little washed out and sometimes lacks contrast as is the case here. Are you using photoshop? If so, there is a better way to convert to B&W using the Channel Mixer. Attached is a quick example using your color version.
