silence is seen here. i also see division...the people are separated almost perfectly by the pillar, even as the sit on the same bench, just as the wars separated the countries of the same continent. beautiful...

Beautiful and touching moment, lovingly and expertly recorded. I like the fact the pillar divides the two people in the shot.
I also really appreciate the way their presence adds scale to the picture.
The composition and framing are top-notch. Most people (me included!) would have been very tempted to include the top of the pillars. You have done well to include only their shadow, which tells the story just as well, and keeps the picture more succinct, allowing the eye to concentrate on the couple.
Very good indeed. It's going in the favourites, as an example and inspiration!

Dear Kevin,
I found a third picture of that scenario that shows very naturately what these two old people feel while sitting there. Cheers, Thilo

Very well done! Superb photo with a lot to tell and also fantastic photo quality! Light and shadows are really so great, and how it shows how small "we" are!

Great use of scale here Thilo. Love this one. The female model looks sooo saddened. Lest We Not Forget. Thanks for this image.

walt, thanks for your comment. As I played around with saturation I tried b/w as well. It downplayed IMHO the mood that is created from the current color. So I decided not to convert it ;-) cheers, thilo.

Ah que c'est beau comme photo et grandiose comme décor où seuls les deux petits personnages brisent en silence le rythme des perpendiculaires et ces ombres portées qui ferment

Thilo, I agree that the silence can be felt in viewing this image. The shadows are very dramatic and as Hugo suggested I think it would be stonger without the left hand shadow.
The two people seem like survivors from those terrible wars ... very well done. Kev

Hi Thilo, A moment of silence, captured in a very modest way. Very well composed. The only thing that could be argued is probably including or excluding the shadow on the left. Very sober, but strong image.
Cheers,
Hugo
