Actually, as an ammendment to what I said before, (and it really would be an argument between the idea of creating an image vs. capturing an image) it seems that adding special effects, solely for the sake of the effect,(rather than as a supplement to the picture)cheapens photography. The focus then becomes what special effect can be created in Photoshop rather than what are the elements of a good photograph. If the effect is used to the point where it overwhelms the picture, than it's just a lot of digital noise. That said, my thoughts on this aren't worth a mound of mud if you like the picture. It is yours after all, not mine. But, my opinion is nevertheless humbly submitted.

A good picture can stand on its own without special effects.
