I saw you have some little problems with getting correct fous (also in Pink 'Ecstasy' where the center part is not pin sharp). There are 2 steps to follow to get around this: 1. your camera has an Aperture Priority setting: set the Aperture on a high numer, so that it will read f/16 or f/22; 2. For macro photography you will soon need to use a tripod, again for pin sharp picturs. Especially when you use someting like f/16, the shutter speed can get very low (1/10th of a sec. for instance or even less!)
Next tip would be to setup your camera and a flower and experiment with the Aperture settings and see what happens with what is called Depth of Field (DOF). When you get happy with your results, read a lot about macro photography in books or on the Net (like: Photo.net, see the lessons). You're digital, so it will only cost some time and maybe a tripod (there are small ones you can use for these kind of shots, like the Slik Compact XL)
You will get rewarded for doing this, I'm sure about that,
At last! Somebody is confirming my suspicion! :-) I thought it was only me that is having trouble getting a good focus on yellows and reds. I know there must be a way around it, by changing the settings, but right now I am relying solely on my "aim and shoot" facility :-) Another problem with the Hibiscus is that the red stamen (?) is actually fluffy and the camera tends to focus on the yellow bits. Thanks Monika. Linn
