Great shot, Ahmed: "Taxodium disticum" name of tree. "Taxodiaceae":Family name... all Latin language, Dear. in my Country, Brazil, we study Latin, as English or Spanish or French as mandatory learning practices to each and every one. it's easier for us to understand the meaning of a Cypres tree when we see it, i guess... Thanks for sharing! Shokran, Regina Rio de Janeiro

The words Taxodium distic(h)um is the scientific name for "bald cypress"; Taxodiaceae refers to the tree as belonging to the cypress family. After looking up these words, I now recognize the bark of the tree in your photo. The redwoods of northwestern USA also belong to this family. The Bald Cypress is the Louisiana "state tree." And now that all that is said - you have posted a very educational photo. Greeting from the cypress tree state of Louisiana, USA. Jimmy

I have a clue... It's good old Latin... says this is the scientific name of the tree (The first is the full name, behind you have the family to which the tree belongs... it says something about the trees being bitter or poisonous). :) Hanna
