Thanks for your wonderful feedback on this picture Maggie and Tony. I will keep this in my mind when I shoot "Open Shade" portrait next time.

Very nice portrait! Maggie gave you some excellent suggestions on how to bring out the details in your subject. If it turns out that you have neither a reflector or an assistant, you could always use Dodge and Burn in your image editor.

Hi Elangovan...this doesnt appear to be open shade or what i call open shade because the sun is creating strong side lighting.... coming in from camera left slightly behind the model. Because of this you are loosing lots of detail in the models face.

A white reflector positioned on the camera right in front of the model angled up towards the light coming in from the left would bounce enough light into the models face to open up those dark shadows and expose his features.

If you didnt have a white reflector tucked under your arm *Smile* or an assistant to hold it ... you could use fill flash to open up the shadows.... hope this helps and you will try more portrait shots like this.

I like the pose and the angle that is created across the frame by the position of his arm... look forward to seeing more of your work *smile*....Maggie
