About Pismo Beach, California USA. This past weekend my lovely wife and I visited the Monarch grove. I had been there before but in the wrong part of the year. This certainly was a treat. While you must use binoculars or long lenses to get close up, you can certainly enjoy the whole thing with either.

would a little more fill-in lighting been feasible? the butterflies look really nice with the (what looks like) backlighting, but some sense of detail is lost due to the darkness. i absolutely love the soothing deep blue background.
