About My mum and my daughter walking along a path opposite Pembroke Castle near where I live. I am thinking about getting this picture enlarged to hang on my wall at home. Do you think it is a strong enough composition?

Hi Sarah,

The image is very natural and relaxing. I'm sorry, I disagree with Kim, I wouldn't like a more drammatic sky and neither an hand inhand Pic. I find this composition much more spontaneous and I see even a simmetry between the two silohuettes. I would leave also this green frame for your an enlarged Pic on your wall.
The only thing I'd try to crop is a little of green on the left, maybe it creates a artistic format and a feeling on walking ahead, don't you think?
Anyway, nice and original image.

Kim, thanks for the comment and advice on this picture. I put it up at the time when there were problems on the site, so I didn't get anymore feedback on it, other than yours.

I agree about the polariser. At the time I took this, I didn't have one. Oh well, at least I've got some colour in the sky!

As for the figures being closer to the camera, I wanted the viewer to really be drawn into the picture, so I placed my mum and daughter 2/3rds up the image. Also I wanted the lines to dominate the bottom of the frame. You are right about the hand-holding though, that would have been nice. To be honest this was a quick snap, I saw the shadow and had to grab the shot before the 2 figures disapeared completely.

When I look at it again, I think I would have been nice if Jenny (my daughter) had been completely to the side of the shadow line, so that the fence shadow forged between the 2 figures, and disapeared into the distance. What do you think?

Anyway, thanks again for the comment, much appreceiated.

Sarah.

I think that the composition is very strong... the lines of the fence, along with the shadows pull your eye through the picture until we see your mum and daughter. What I really would have liked would be to have them holding hands to show the relationship. As well, if you have a polarising filter you could make the sky a bit more dramatic.
As for the placement of your mum and daughter... did you try any with them a little more prominent in the image? Closer to the camera? Not sure if it would look better, but it might add a little more impact of the people.
I think it would probably make a lovely addition to your wall as is, but if you could try again with some of the suggestions it might work better.
