Although this place is a great memory ,it is just only for you and cannot make us evoke the same nice feeling.I think it might be better if added the surrounding scenes a bit.Thanks.

I like the depth of the image - the dark mood and specular light.

Hey, Cheryl. Good to see your work over here as well as on apug.org. I like the fade to black, but I could see a case to be made for bringing the foreground highlights up just a bit almost to pure white to make it really sing. Of course it's virtually impossible to judge such things on a computer monitor, so maybe that's just how it looks from here.

This is perfect. Tones, lighting, composition work together to create the whole image. The story behind this image really evokes emotion. Great job.

Perfect! Tones just right, dof just exactly right, and so is the light. They're all working together here to make a wonderful image.
I'm glad you got to photograph bits and pieces -- I think that may be the way we remember. Looking forward to more.

I hear you Cheryl... It's amazing the bits you take from your childhood --a special fragrance (I remember vividly the smell of the dish soap my grandmother always used), a sound, a color, a texture, a certain food (I had a grandfather that always kept Reeses peanut butter cups in a candy dish and he'd let me have one after I brushed my teeth at night, it was our secret), the sound of footsteps going up and down a favorite staircase, the splash of water in the old claw-foot bathtub, or the woosh of the porch swing you always rushed to sit in when visiting relatives that lived in another state. This photo, along with your explanation, has just enough in it to convey your intent. I can imagine roller skating (the old metal wheel kind with leather straps that needed a skate key to tighten) on these bricks - what a bumpy ride. That would be something I wouldn't forget. Your title says it all.

Actually, detail in this image is intentionally lost. Sometimes (in my opinion, of course) a technically perfect print can fail to make a great impact. The negative is straight-forward, fully detailed, and mid-day bright. This is my interpretation, which conveys the feeling I intended much better. Thanks for the comments.

you're about 2-3 stops away from a great shot...nice low-key effort, but you should try to retain detail in the full range of tones.
