About Apple blossom petals scattered about the yard. I have 2 apple trees at Loy-Wood. One tree is over 25 years of age. It produces a few small, bent and gnarled apples. I do not prune this particular tree. I am sure if I put more effort into the care of the tree the apples would be of better quality. The second apple tree on the place is only 4 years old. It produces...well... nothing; until perhaps, this year. The apple blossoms exploded three days ago. Soft, off-white with blushing tips of pink hope. In two days the petals fell and turned. I walked about the yard today and saw, scattered about, thousands of off-white bits tipped with brown... the efforts of a few days now dizzily spread across the field. No more apple blossoms for this year. The flowers are already gone. But... in their place... small buds... We may have a decent apple crop in 2009. I'll keep ya informed.
