The coloring was what attracted my attention on the thumb, Malules, and on the big one it looks really very very strong, strict, and kept in absolute consequence. The green/turquoise tones are visually fascinating.
The subject has some elements of well done softening by focus and also some elements of minimalist oil painting, bringing thus classical technique into a more contemprorary understanding. And though the DoF seems to be outside the depth limits of the concept, the image still has depth. The plant (or flower?) on the foreground is definitely in front of the background. I guess that putting the object into sharp focus would further enhance it but this way it has its very own character.
Good work!
Nick
