This time the light, the tint and the DoF made it look a bit more "imaginative", Dave! It look a bit like a remembrance of a scene, though it still keeps many good details and tectures of reality. The timing was again just about perfect and I see that it completely fits the good selective DoF.
I add one with a bit more contrast by tweaking slightly the levels, only as a hint for how the special look and light get much weaker when the maximum contrast is taken as the only thing to be considered on an image.
Cheers!
Nick

Adjusted levels for more contrast but then the special light almost disappears |

I think you'll find processing in Raw has it's benefits as you get used to it, much more latitude than jpeg. This shot seems to have a colour cast to it. One way to set the colours better, is to go into Levels, set the white point with the dropper tool and then set the black point with the dropper tool. You can also set a gray point, but usually white and black does the trick. Try and do your sharpening only after you have resized the picture for web. Good luck, Art.

Wonderful sharp details in this excellent wildlife study my dear Dave. A superb dof and I love the little catchlight in the birds's beady eye, wonderful stuff. Welcome to RAW my friend. I do all my photography in raw to give a greater control over the results and yet still retain the original shot. It is rather like keeping our old negatives for future use and experimentation. Well done to you my good friend. My very best wishes to you as always......Ray

I like the clear details in this image , good work !!
The color magenta in background applies to the white balance?

Nice capture Dave, you nailed the focus for nice details on the eye and claws, the slight Magenta tint goes well here. Nice job processing your first RAW image and it will only get better. Well done.
