Solmaz.
Just realise that when you have a professional camera DSLR you must have knowledge of DOF, aperture mode, ISO, EV setting, prime lenses or zoom, and learn to work with RAW files . ANd more.
For myself I have started with a simple Kodak camera, then I bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ5 and in 2006 I bought the DSLR Nikon D50.
If I would redo the path, i would buy a Nikon coolpix P80, a Panasonic FZ28 or an equivalent Canon, price range abt 350 Euro.
I you like, ask Aziz for advice and see what he says.
Best, Harry

Solmaz,
I personally like this a lot. The photo really draws me in. Chapeau !
The Canon 40D is a very powerful machine ! but also very expensive. I hope you made that decision yourself and do not feel pushed my me or Aziz.
I can also imagine you make a step inbetween the Ixus and the 40D by using a Canon G9 or Panasonic Lumix. They are about 1/3rd .... 1/4th of the cost and a good learning school.
Well, I have experienced in time you are very wise so I am confident in a good choice you make.
Be well, Harry

The reed at the f/g creates distance to the mountains, and the perspective is very good. One cannot expect from a real lady to to go any lower ;-) May I suggest ? Crop the sky till the top of the mountain.
PS, I agree that Aziz should give his old Canon camera to you so you can develop you skills even more, if he does we will call him Saint Aziz !
