"To hell with the Muswellbrook Flies to hell to hell with the Muswellbrook flies"
cant remember the name of the song or probly anymore of the words.. sung by the old Muswellbrook Bush Band.. a casette I once owned that somebody stole from me which really craps me off as it also has the Muswellbrook Beer Truck Crash song on it.. and years after I bought the tape we (LL n me) became friends of Jeff and Lyn and Jeffs old man Bill had written the original poem way back.. shortly after the beer truck crashed... It was about the great beer strike in Queensland this tuckie sought to make his pile and (over)loaded his truck with NSW beer and headed north all was well ("he'd dodged the DMR Inspectors he'd dodged the highway patrol")until he came to Muswellbrook where (" his nemesis was approaching that aplogy for a street") the truck rolled due to the ridiculous camber in the highway) at about Eatons pub and in spite of the coppers (police) due diligence more than half the load was pilfered by the locals ("That evening at the pictures, kids with beery smiles, spent the intermission rolling empties down the aisles")
"They say we've had our share of highway wrecks loads scattered on the tar we've had pumkin, sweet corn and twisties and Hoadleys Violet Crumble bar, but as time goes by, and memories dim fact and fiction clash but, no bull mate this one was dinkum the Muswellbrook Beer Truck Crash"
