Jack I use an SLR and it depends on the lens, F22.0 to F26.0 which is the smallest opening allowing the least amount of light and results in the largest depth of field. On the other hand F4.0 to F5.6 is the largest opening and the most light and the smallest depth of field. Lens that are 600mm and F4.0 down to F2.0 cost lots of ($,$$$.$$) maybe even ($$.$$$.$$).
